The urn motif was a very popular theme in Edwardian times right through to the 1930's. This delicate, ornate pin fits that theme and is beautifully crafted. It is platinum topped on gold and is studded with small ( 1-2mm) rose cut diamonds, and salt water pearls that are 2-3mm. The brooch is 1 inch across and has a simple c catch and t hinge. I looked all over for any hallmarks, and there are none, This was definitely manufactured by Tiffany & co. and you can see identical pins on line. There are very faint numbers scratched on the back, only visible with a loupe. This tells me that at some point there was a repair done. I suspect it was a pin replacement and this is where the Tiffany name would have appeared and no repairs or modifications are visible. This brooch is in excellent condition. C. 1900.
