This ring is marked with the French eagle head for 18k. Wedgwood cameos were very popular in France in the late 1700's to early 1800's mostly brought on by Josephine Bonaparte's love for them . Many unset Wedgwood cameos were imported to France from England and set into brooches and other forms of jewellery. This ring is from that period. I would date it to 1790. The ring is size 8 1/2 and the head is 33mm by 23mm. The Wedgwood cameo is of a full figured lady. Is she holding a shield? The bezel set cameo is surrounded by tiny natural seed pearls. The bezel is worn at the top.
