I have had this in my personal collection for many years, as red and large bold pieces are favorites. I know I may regret letting it go, but I know who ever gets it will be so happy. This necklace is very unusual, and an example of bold early plastics that looks likes poured or molded glass. The charms are true red and when held up, you can see light through them, so it looks a little different shade depending on the light and skin tone. I believe it is from the 1940's.
The necklace weighs 90 grams so it is quite substantial. It is 23 inches at its longest, but could be clipped shorter if desired. Each drop is 1 1/2 inches long and 1 inch at its widest. The chain is a brassy gold tone. It could be gold filled but I did not test it and I did not clean it as I think the patina is wonderful. The clasp is marked 12k gold filled, but I can not be sure it is original, but it is old. I love how the the lucite drops are wired and prong set. From my research and experience, I believe it is European. You can also wrap it around your wrist a few times to get a dramatic and amazing charm bracelet. It is in excellent condition. A very special piece.
