It is not too often that I come across mourning Jewelry from England (around 1870) that is so rare and special as this piece. I believe this would be used to hold hair, but it can be used for a picture today. The black agate have a wonder band to accent its black color. Sorry for the reflections in the picture. The ring has a lion Hallmark and I did not test the medal. It is just about under an inch without the bale. The condition is excellent with no cracks and it closes nice and tight and aligned as it should. What a wonderful timeless piece of history that would looks super on a chain, on a watch chain or ribbon.
