I was lucky enough to get this at an auction some time ago and I thought about taking the pen, perfume flask and what appear as a dance card or note pad off and wear them as pendants, but decided to leave it as I purchased it. I think this may have been a marriage because the tools tested as sterling by my jeweler, but the rest of it did not. I do not know enough about these to know is this was common. I is almost 10 inches at its longest and the pencil ( nothing in it, but it turns) is 2 3/4 inches, the dance card ( with with 5 celluloid pages) is just under 1 1/2 inches around and has a great floral repose. The perfume has a screw top and is 2 inches long and has nice ribbing like a sea shell and is quite heavy.
I have not polished it and I believe the condition is very good to excellent with nothing visible with a great patina.
I believe this is a very rare and fabulous example of a Victorian Chatelaine and would be an asset to any collection. Please click the subscribe tab on the left and you can elect to receive updates on my new arrivals. Thanks for visiting my store and remember satisfaction guaranteed.
