This is one of three postcards I have available in this style, which I call "kitschy." The idea behind the collage is great, mixing photo with plastic and fabric but not executed perfectly. Maybe a century ago when this postcard was made, the real photo of the woman's face was darker and sharper, but even now we can appreciate the concept, especially considering the limited printing and photographic techniques available back then. What this lacks in expertise, it more than makes up for showing a historical progression in the postcard industry as manufactures pushed the limits! The background has me a bit confused. I'm not sure if it's fabric or if it's a form of plastic that has been given a linen-like design. The gargantuan violets do have a fabric overlay. Kitschy and incredible! Unused; verso the back is coming unglued. Typical antique postcard size of about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. To see all three, use "kitschy" in the search word box at the top of my home page.
