I'm very please to be able to offer this rare André Renoux postcard, a reproduction of his painting of Le Nemours, a cafe/restaurant housed on the side of the Palais Royal, facing the Comédie Française classical theater, across from the Louvre. In "Remembering Paris" by Denis Tillinac, the conservative French author accompanies Renoux's painting of Le Nemours with these words: The Counselors of State and members of the Constitutional Council have their offices in the Palais-Royal, but they entertain their secretaries in the booths at the Nemours. Hints of wear at the corner tips, but considering this postcard is circa 1980s-1990s, it is in overall fine, unused, vintage condition. Artist signed. About 5.75 by 4-1/8 inches.
André Renoux (1939-2002) is a French painter considered the "father" of the Paris School of Urban Realism. However, he painted outside Paris, too: London and New York in particular. His Paris shop scenes are featured on Williams Sonoma plates. His original limited-edition serigraphs sell anywhere from $600 to $2,000. There are approximately 70 cards in this collection of Renoux's work.
