This book is a delightful treasure from a student of Mademoiselle Cailly's boarding school in Poix, France. The first page of this book reads: Aimée Mercier, Poix 1886, Dictated from December 22, 1886. The last entry is from Feb. 28, 1887, and includes a map of France. Among the 110 pages, you'll find lots of calculus lessons, penmanship and grammar exercises as well as more maps. There are also exercises in following directions to make various diagrams. (Poix is a commune in northeastern France; population 99!)
The penmanship is very neat and fairly easy to read, should you like to use Google translate and understand in more detail exactly what Mlle. Mercier was learning.
The book has a soft cover and measures 7.5 by 6 inches. Just over a quarter of an inch thick. I've included direct scans as well as photos of pages. Overall, for its age, it is in amazing condition. No bad smells. The second page is torn about 3 inches from the bottom, but still very much in tact. Otherwise, as the pictures show, it is simply an incredible historical vignette from the late 18th century!
