I've put this postcard under "artist signed," but perhaps artist initials would be more accurate. This is one in a series of 6 cards designed by British artist Hilda Dix Sandford (1875-1946). These cards were printed in Bavaria and distributed in Great Britain and Germany. A special thanks to the Tuck Data Base site for this information, which without, I was at a total loss because this card is a sweet scarce one. The colors in this postcard are so richly saturated. The boys are wearing blue jackets and dark blue-purple shorts. The tones look different between the scan and the photo; according to what I see on my screen the scan is more accurate but the blue is darker. Bold, deep red accessories. Some signs of wear as to be expected for a postcard mailed in 1906! Typical antique postcard size: about 5.5 by 3.5 inches.
