This is a hard-to-find art reproduction postcard featuring the talent of Tade Styka (1889 – 1954). This card is unused and in near mint condition, save the bottom left corner tip. The fantastical artistry, the quality of the publishing -- this card is a standout. Pre-WWI; circa 1904-1914.
Born in Poland, Tade, his brother Adam and his father Jan were all painters. A prodigy, he was receiving prizes for his art work from Paris galleries when he was 11! Tade is known for portraits of famous 20th century women, from actresses to royalty. But this is my favorite. (Interestingly, the Styka Family Art site does not even have a copy of this art work included in Tade's works.) Entitled "Thought," this card is artist signed, albeit very hard to see at the bottom right corner. Published by Lapina of Paris, renown for their quality of art postcards with gold borders. And though not pictured, this card does have the gold edges, too! Antique postcard size of 5.5 by 3.5 inches.
