Here are four of seven postcards I have available in this "Frimousses de Paris" series. The other three as seen in the last photo are listed separately here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8948/Smiling-Faces-Paris-Trio-Parisians-Parasols
These four are artist signed but sadly Maurice Alleroux's name is mostly unreadable and cut-off! Alleroux is a recognized artist but apparently little is known about him as he is simply described on various art auction sites as "French mid-20th century." Interestingly, I found that his original oil paintings have sold in the last decade anywhere from $40 to almost $5,000! One site notes this about Alleroux: "he was known for his nostalgic depictions of children and young women set against the environs of late-nineteenth century Paris." Although the background scene may be late 19th century, I find it intriguing that one look and these cards shout "1950s nostalgia." Perhaps it's because of the bright red lipstick on these young pre-teens, something you wouldn't actually see on girls at the turn of the century? Whatever -- it all comes together for some charming Gay Parisian ambiance!
Continental size: about 4-1/8 by 5.75 inches. Some foxing verso on a couple of the cards but overall for their age, in fine vintage condition. Unused. Circa 1950s. Pierre Yves Petit (1886–1969), better known simply as Yvon took up photography in 1916 and in three years he began publishing postcards of his images under the trade name Edition d’Art Yvon. Yvon postcards are still popular and still printed in Paris to this day!
I'm not positive exactly how many are in this series, but I think there are only 8, which means we're missing No. 1. I'd be happy to help you collect all 8!
