The condition of this 1908 postcard will amaze you. The creamy antique white background with the lacy die-cut border is as pristine as the day it was sold more than 110 years ago. The glue securing the orange ribbon has aged but that dollop doesn't detract from this card's "Wow!" factor. The embossed floral design is enhanced with the addition of a bird carrying a gift, held by the ribbon in its beak. A pretty face, a real photo, adorns a petite booklet with a metallic gold-ribbed border. Open the cover and there's a calender for 1908. The first day of the month fell on a Wednesday. Of course, the months and days are in French. The "Bonne annee" greeting offers happy new year greetings. The green stamp is franked Jan. 2, 1908. Another fine example of a postcard that was undoubtably mailed in a "hole" envelope (See my listing here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8918/Illustrated-Bxe9nxe9dictine-Liqueur-Distillery-Historical-Philatelic) Typical antique size, of about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
