Here is a vintage black ring-binder filled with 29 pieces of round-cornered cardstock chock full of graceful French writing and illustrations all about making shoes! The binder is about 9 by 8-1/8 inches. Each page measures about 8.75 by just over 6 inches. When closed, the binder is 1.25 inches thick. Some of the cardstock pages are blank; subject dividers I'm assuming. Some are a dark brown, some are blank on one side with graph paper checks on the other. All of the pages are a thick, substantial cardstock. Some of the pages have just a title, whereas other pages of top to bottom French script. There are added pencil notations and corrections/additions in red ink. The illustrations are paper cutouts that have been colored and labeled.
There is nothing in the book to date it, that I can find. The only "clue" is the price of the ring-binder: 13 francs. But I haven't a clue as to how to compute that into a year or decade. It's obviously vintage. Just guessing, I think it is pre-WWII at least because the penmanship is still beautiful, borderline calligraphy.
The cardstock has aged around the borders. I've included a direct scan of a couple of pages to show the color more accurately. The entire ringbinder and contents are wondrously vintage. It doesn't smell, but has been well preserved. The corner tips of the binder show wear but overall, it is very clean. Not scratched up, but amazingly pristine.
Some folks might think it sacrilege, but ....this would make a superlative base for a mixed-media, altered book art project:)
