This is one of four antique botanical prints I have available. I call this a yellow flower but the Latin name is Doronicum scorpioides. The common French name is "Tail of the Scorpion." Other than to say that these are pages taken from an antique French botantical book (19th century or earlier?), I have to let the photos and scans do most of the talking. In my opinion, this is the sort of thing you have to hold in your hands and feel with your fingers to "touch" the age, the quality, the craftmanship. Rub your finger over the center of the yellow flower and you'll feel the raised lines of the black ink! As for the companion text page: when was the last time you saw paper that actually looked like it had been typeset printed?
The hot pink 69 notation?! I can't explain.
The illustrated page is just over 5.5 by 8.5 inches. It is blank verso. The text page is about a quarter inch smaller. The hole pricks from being threaded into book signatures do not match up, so these pages were not taken from the same book.
One of my favorite designer decor sites offers matted and framed antique botanical prints for $850 each. Not near as pretty as this one, which will indeed look incredible once matted and framed. Indeed, proper matting should take care of that funky 69! For a lot less than $850:)
You might want to pair this with one of the other prints, any of which would coordinate well. Remember: BUY MORE, Save More!
