This real photo postcard was one of the gems I discovered at the Monday flea market in Nice, France, during my Feb.-March trip. Verso is the notation "Bld Gambetta Debut." Debut indeed. The girl is carrying a doll almost as big as she is. Naturally, the family dog had to come! (A special thanks to the fellow Ruby Lane-ite who pointed out to me that the dog is not wearing a muzzle but what is called a gentle leader, a very humane head-collar system.) And not one but two large pull-toys. The boy has a good grip on his roll-along spotted horse. Mother must have pulled the flower cart since her daughter's hands are full and there's yet another doll with the flower cart. They were definitely out to impress. Wonderfully detailed scene, a slice of life from the turn of the century frozen in time! Some specks inherent to the printing on this photo postcard, but overall, it is in near mint antique condition. Typical antique postcard size: about 5.5 by 3.5 inches.
