This alluring bat lady is one in a 4-card series produced by Phoscao, a French company that produced a chocolate drink that promised to be the perfect elixir for digestion. The text verso says: Le plus exquis des dejeuners, le plus puissant des reconstituants. (The most exquisite of breakfasts, the most powerful of fortifiers.)
In the last photo you'll see all four cards available. I have two full sets and am offering one complete set and others individually. I can't figure out a theme. There's birds, bats and butterflies, but no creatures with the lady in violet. The seasons, perhaps? Whatever, each one is lovely in her own way. Buy one or more or get the complete series.
Both cards listed here are unused, circa 1904-1914. The word Phoscao verso bleeds through to the front creating a hint of a light shadow at top. UPDATE: One copy has sold; the card available is the one on the left with a creased corner tip and superficial crease at the bottom left; one stray black speck on the cream background. Each card is typical antique postcard size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
