Did you know there's a fish called the roach fish? The things we learn from postcards!
Au Gardon d'Argent (The Silver Roach) was located at 173 rue Legendre in Paris, but sadly, the fishing supply shop is no longer there. Artist Dominque Chouaba* has immortalized it in his 1988 oil painting reproduced in this postcard, part of the Paris by the Painters series. Based on other cards I have in the series, I've concluded that these were published in the late 1980s and 1990s. Each card measures about 5.75 by 4 inches. I have two available. PLEASE note: to be able to offer these vintage cards affordably, I'm offering them in this generic group format all at the same price. If you have a preference, message me first to see if the specific copy you want is still available. One copy has a creased top left corner tip; verso clean. The other copy has erased numbers residue verso.
This is one of three different Paris shop postcards I have by Chouaba, as seen in the last photo. All listed separately. Remember: Buy More, Save More! Multiple purchases receive discounts from $10 to $35, even free shipping within the US. Details on my shop home page at the bottom.
*I don't have complete biographical information on Chouaba; most information I gleamed online is from French sites. I can tell you that he is about 59 years old and has had exhibitions worldwide, from Japan to Italy. One of the latest I came across was in Clairac, France, in 2014. He is a recognized contemporary French artist and his artwork ranges from 18th century style landscapes and angel paintings to this 'naive' style seen in this Paris series.
