This is an unused antique French postcard featuring the superb photography of Leopold Reutlinger of Paris and a most unusual costume adorning Mlle. de Buffon, a Belle Epoque stage star. It's great to say after collecting and selling for over 20 years, "I've never seen this one before." A Google image search verified her rarity for me. When only a couple of pages of search results pull up and they're all the same two sources, you know a postcard is rare. Between the direct scan and the photo taken under natural daylight, you get an idea of how this beauty will look in hand. Virtually no surface wear! Light silvering at the top edge. The card is not glossy, but matte. It's hard to get the exact contrast, depth of the blackness. The direct scan registers that black background too black; the photo not as contrasting enough. I guarantee you'll be impressed with this card in hand or your money back.
Typical antique postcard size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. The undivided back tells us this was printed in 1903 or earlier.
