Continuing our tour around Paris, thanks to the art of André Renoux, we are now at Les Trois Marches. Full name: Les Trois Marches de Catherine B. Reviews of this place are fun to read. "It is the temple of Chanel and Hermes." (You may want to pair this card with Renoux's Chanel storefront card listed separately.) "The best place for vintage shopping in Paris!" "We buy it with eyes closed." Also, alas, quite a few disparaging comments about a rude owner and rude sales clerks. And despite the 'open' business hours listed, you have to have an appointment. Located at 1 rue Guisarde, I looked this shop up on Google maps (you may want to check out the shop blog also listed). The awning is still there. The photo is taken at a side angle, so I can't tell if it's still crooked as Mr. Renoux painted it:) Unused. Mint condition. Circa 1980s-1990s. About 5.75 by 4-1/8 inches. This card is a rare one in the series of Renoux's shop fronts. I was lucky to acquire two, but the other one was damaged while crossing the Atlantic; it is listed in a 'scratch and dent' batch.

André Renoux (1939-2002) is considered the "father" of the Paris School of Urban Realism. You may have seen Renoux's Paris shop scenes on Williams Sonoma plates. His original limited-edition serigraphs sell anywhere from $600 to $2,000. Although these postcards are not my usual antique fare, I wanted to offer these because Renoux's postcards are difficult for the average person in the United States to access and they are highly collectible. From what I can ascertain, there are approximately 70 cards in this collection of Renoux's work.
