The Bar of the Thirsty Artist is one of my favorite cards among the red-themed lot of André Renoux shop scenes. Some of Renoux's cards feature businesses outside of Paris. There is a bar called the Thirsty Artist in Rennes, France, but some say there used to be one in Paris. I'm just not sure. I'll leave the sleuthing to you for now, but I do continue to research Mr. Renoux's work. If I can verify the location of this "Thirsty Artist," I'll certainly let you know. Near mint condition. About 5.75 by 4-1/8 inches. Circa 1980-1990s.

André Renoux (1939-2002) is considered the "father" of the Paris School of Urban Realism. You may have seen Renoux's Paris shop scenes on Williams Sonoma plates. His original limited-edition serigraphs sell anywhere from $600 to $2,000. Although these postcards are not my usual antique fare, I wanted to offer these because Renoux's postcards are difficult to find and they are highly collectible. From what I can ascertain, there are approximately 70 cards in this collection of Renoux's work.
