This is one of two postcards I have featuring the artwork of two French sisters, Consuelo Fould (1862 – 1927) and Georges Achille-Fould (1865-1951). The second card by Consuelo shown in the last photo is listed separately here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8646/Salon-de-Paris-1909-Night-Throws
As you can see, it's difficult to tell the paintings are by different artists. Their style is quite similar in these two examples, featuring allegorical or mythological ladies. This painting by Georges is entitled "Sphinx of the Forest."
Unused and typical antique postcard size of about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. I've included a photo and a direct scan. Our computer screens and color calibration are all different, but I guarantee that in hand you'll be pleased with this beauty. The photo is lighter than the actual postcard but I like to include it to show the details clearly and the quality of the postcard. Hints of silvering at top, a light crease at bottom left and a few errant specks, but overall, in fine antique condition. Virtually no surface wear!

A portrait of an actress painted by Georges was sold at auction in 2013 through Bonham's for $7500. Here is Bonham's "footnote": Georges Achille-Fould was a young woman artist who worked and exhibited since 1884 under a male pseudonym. Her mother, who married Prince Stribey, a Romanian aristocrat, was an art critic who signed her articles Gustave Haller. Mlle. Achille-Fould painted mostly figurative compositions, portraits, allegorical and historical subjects. One of her most known paintings is a portrait of Rosa Bonheur in her studio, amidst sketches and painting accessories.
Blouin Art Sales Index lists four other works of Georges that have sold at auction.
Georges' painting "Courtship" was included in the 1905 book "Women Painters of the World."

PLEASE note that due to the rarity of this postcard, insurance is required.
