I debated on splitting up this set, but this is a hard-to-find series and to have all four together is a coup indeed. This little girl was a postcard model at the turn of the century and if she looks familiar, it's because I also have a set of her in a boat, listed here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8606/Fancy-to-Fun-Real-Photo-Series
These real photo cards were produced by Rotophot (RPH) of Berlin. Each card is typical antique postcard size, about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Some slight silvering on some of the cards. Some errant specks there and there. But overall, especially considering their age, these cards are in fine antique condition. On screen, these cards look simply black and white, but in hand, you'll see that they have a warmer tone.
Unused but the divided back helps date this set to circa 1898-1903. The second to the last in the series has a half curved crease/impression at the top right corner. The first card shows the album impression at the top right corner. Some light errant specks and smudges, but overall, these cards have been well preserved this past century. A set that deserves to be matted and framed!
