C is for Clapsaddle of course! This angelic alphabet design is an unsigned but well-recognized treasure from the prolific portfolio of Ellen Hattie Clapsaddle (1865-1934 b. South Columbia, New York). Embossed with metallic gold outlining the "C," this German-printed card was sent to Genevieve in Senonches, France (about 2 hours west of Paris). The undivided back tells us it was printed sometime before 1903. For its age, this card is in almost mint condition. There is something on the C letter, which could possibly be removed if rubbed gently with a damp cloth. I'm going to leave that to you. It is not a crease. Typical antique postcard size of about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
