I put this handmade stamp collage postcard under 'artist signed.' I'm not trying to be deceptive, just a little humor. Besides, the artist behind this collage did sign his name: with more stamps! Unfortunately, part of the "M" is missing, but the V for Vacquier remains. The stamp in the center of the vase represents Emperor Napoleon III. It would date to the mid-1800s. Look at the blue flower on the right and you'll see that our creative friend used a Chinese stamp, too. The red and green stamps with the French farm girl sowing seeds could date from 1906 to 1937. My personal opinion, based on the penmanship verso, is that this card is not from the 1930s, but likely pre-1920. The card is typical antique postcard size, about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Deckeled edge typical of blank postcards for artists and creative types. This card shows hints of age on the cream background paper, but overall, it has been well preserved and is a fine example of stamp collage art. Monsieur Vacquier wishes Madame a happy fete (celebrating one's name day based on the calender of Catholic saints) and prays that "our Blessed Patroness is exalted by filling you with her fervor."
