These two cards are vintage postcard size, about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. However, as you can see verso, they are not postcards per se, but beautiful prints featuring lots of French script decorated like an illuminated manuscript. The Seven Gifts of Life is dated 1957. It has a light crease at the top right corner and a couple of stains on the right edge, but overall, it is in fine vintage condition. The French calligraphy says:
The Seven Gifts for Life The Angel for Prayer Bread and wine for the body. Armor for the struggle. The lamp for the study. The boat for the dream. The garden for joy. The heart for love.
The Christmas quote is from a 16th century priest. Something is likely missing in my translation. I can't get the last line to make sense, but you get the gist.
Noel! We are three Sovereign Princes of the East who travel to the provinces in the West to honor the Kings of Kings on his birth and receive the sweet decrees which his childhood gives!
This card is dated 1958. It is in mint condition.
