I have two of these postcards by the same artist, each featuring a beautiful girl in her native folklore costume. The name is not as legible on this one, but it is M. Levis. This girl holding a basket of red flowers wears the traditional Alsatian costume with the huge black bow on her head. This is the area of France that borders Germany, an area that has been fought over and borders changed back and forth for centuries. Despite such an unhappy history, this beauty is all innocence and graciousness as she holds out a floral gift for you.
The card is typical antique postcard size, about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. It has a gold leaf decorative border overlay and is in near mint unused condition! I've included direct scans as well as a photo taken at natural window light. The gold leaf makes it difficult to capture the colors accurately because of its reflecting on the scanner. In the first scan, the girl's dress looks more yellow and doesn't do justice to the boldness of the painting. The photo makes the postcard look lighter than it is but also helps show detail and quality of the card. From what I'm seeing on my computer screen, image number 4, the scan of both cards together, more accurately captures the contrast of the gold white dress and dark golden matte background. In hand, I guarantee you'll be pleased with this lovely maiden.
Again, this listing is for one card, but if you buy both -- remember: BUY MORE, Save More! See details on my home page. The second one is listed here: https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8522/Artist-Signed-Portrait-Postcard-French-Girl
