Here is a batch of ephemera which I consider to be my quirkiest and most unique French souvenir: a lot of 14 jukebox song labels! I have had these for over a decade and just a quick search on three of the titles come up with the years 1978, 1982 and 1984. I have hundreds more, but I put this group together for the nostalgic baby boomer with common French words easily recognized, to bring a smile to yourself remembering when you could rock and roll all night long! Un coeur qui danse (a heart that dances). Hits from the '60s. Old Rock N Roll. Sexy like me. Je T'aime (I love you.) Femme que j'aime (woman that I love). Week-end Dance by Debut de Soiree (amazing how much French we do know, n'est-ce pas?:) And of course, "Ma Belle Americaine." I hope you're not too disappointed, but Ringo singing "Je cherche une môme" is not the Beatle but Ringo Willy Cat of Toulouse [real name Guy Bayle]. His hit came out in 1978. Julio Iglesias' "Viens M'embrasser" came out in 1982. And Bernard Menez had great success with his hit "Jolie Poupee" (Beautiful Baby) in 1984. Gerard Blanchard's hit "Rock Amadour" is a delightful double entendre. If you've never visited the cliff-hanging village of Rocamadour in France, I highly recommend it. Troglo Dancing pays homage to the famous French caves with the pre-historic paintings in the Dordogne region.
Each label is about 1 x 3 inches. Overall, for their age, in fine vintage condition. If you are as intrigued by these as I am, but wondering what in the world you could do with them, here's my suggestion: use for wedding table decorations and/or wedding favors, especially perfect for a couple who will be honeymooning in Paris! If you need a large lot of such labels, a couple hundred or so, for such a person, message me and let's work out a reserved listing with a bon marche price for you!
