This French postcard is postmarked 1905; however, the undivided back tells us that it was actually printed in 1903 or earlier. It is a stunning postcard with all of the embossing highlighted with silver! There is a tear or more like a crack, which follows one of those embossed lines above the woman's head, about three-quarters of an inch long. The tear does not go all the way to her head, but stops about a quarter of an inch before that. It is difficult to see but underneath the red stamp, there is a gold line of text: Souvenir de Surgères (a town in southwestern France, about 2 hours north of Bordeaux). Size: typical antique postcard dimensions of about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
