This novelty postcard features a plastic hand fan that unfolds to reveal a design of a brown bird flying among violets. The six fan sections are attached to the card on a fabric background with a brad at the base and are held together with a lavender ribbon at the top. An unattached pale pink bow completes this darling 3-D postcard. Unused, I guess-timate that the card dates to the turn of the century, circa 1904-1914, based on the divided background. The deep purple violets are covered with a layer of felt-like fabric. This card shows some age (note the nick in one fan piece) but overall, it has been incredibly well preserved. Typical antique postcard size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. The fan itself is about 4.5 inches tall and each section 1.5 inches at the widest part. It would certainly be resplendent displayed in a shadow box frame.
