My specialty is antique French postcards, but while shopping France's second largest flea market in Rennes this past October, I couldn't resist these these hardware pieces. Looking left and right, male and female, this matching pair is decorated with floral flourishes. Consulting someone more knowledgeable, I was told these are mid-Victorian, circa 1870s and likely graced a dressing table mirror. I've included lots of photos in different light and a direct scan. With proper cleaning, I believe this couple would be quite 'golden' again. Markings on the back of one, but I can't decipher anything from it. Each piece measures about 5 by 4 inches. Together, these two pieces weigh almost half a pound.
