This is not your typical Catherina Klein postcard of roses. Mailed in 1904 from Reymond to Alice, Klein's artwork has been turned into a collage with an embossed 'gold' border around a rectangular photo of a woman holding a dove. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending upon whether or not you like this) most artists at the turn of the century did not have much control over their work once it was handed over to the printers. The publisher would often alter the background, emboss it or crop into an enlarged detail. This addition of a photo collage is a rare and unusual treatment of a Klein postcard. Please note that the background is a light beige with yellow undertones. Due to the 'gold' in the embossed frame, my scanner had issues capturing the colors accurately. However, between the scans and the photo, I think you'll agree that in any shade or tone, Klein's work is always beautiful! The corner tips show wear, but overall, this card is in fine antique condition. About 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
