This is a very special antique French postcard. It is a rare one. And this is how I define rare: after looking at literally hundreds of thousands of postcards in almost 15 years, I have come across this postcard twice. The first one I collected had the angel-fairy outlined in glitter with her gown painted pink and her wings yellow. I sold that one in 2014. This one is original and near pristine. If you look closely, you will see that the angel is holding a little heart in her hands! The French text at the bottom says, best as I can translate: The Christmas angel will come this night and you will find the sweetest present -- the heart of friendship -- in the blackened hearth of the chimney! The artist's signature is down at the bottom left, mixed in with the snow. However, I cannot make it out. Verso, the undivided back tells us this card dates to pre-1904. About 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
