Hildegard Johanna Kaeser (1904 - 1965) was a German Jewish author best known for her series of charming children's books about Mimff. However, she also wrote biographies of famous women from Helen Keller to Amelia Earhart. This printer's proof is the front cover artwork for "Die Frau im Nebel" (The Woman in the Mist). From my online research, I believe this could have been the last book she wrote. It was published in 1962 and Kaeser died 3 years later. Unfortunately, I can't find the citation for the novel illustrator. The front cover art is attached to a folder (notice the tab extension) that has been torn in two. Underneath is a sample rectangle of the pink and black colors to be used in the printing. Verso, you see the printer's color test strip. The novel cover art itself measures 7-3/4 by 8-1/4 inches. The folder is about 8x10.5. A unique piece of ephemera, a coup for a Kaeser fan, this would make a special piece of wall art sure to be a conversation starter!
