Don't let the 2006 on the white and gold holy card fool you. That number is not the year! No, three of these holy cards bear dates from the 19th century: May 1891, January 1885 and June 1889. Two of them are souvenirs from a first communion. The handpainted ribbon with the religious medal isn't dated but likely also from the same time frame. Perhaps a bookmark for one's missal? For size comparison, the ribbon is 4 inches long, not including the hanging medal. The horizontal holy card, richly decorated with gold leaf, measures about 4.5 by 2.75 inches. It is printed on a crisp paper, like onionskin paper.
