This 1912 edition of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility shows wear on the exterior but the inside pages are in almost mint condition. The onion paper sheath between the opening pages still intact. Alas, the bookmark ribbon has come unattached. The top edges gilt. This edition features 40 illustrations by Hugh Thomson. I have included a scan of the partial list. On the inside front cover is written: A.M. Poulain, Dove Park, Liverpool. There is an address sticker at the bottom: The Liverpool Booksellers Comy Ltd, 70, Lord Street, Liverpool. The leather book is a deep wine maroon color. The direct scans make the leather look more worn than it is (the rub spots are not as light as pictured). As you can see from the scans, the binding is quite secure on the majority of the pages but there are some spots showing their age. This book measures about 7 by 4.5 inches.
This treasure was one of several antique books -- albeit the only one in English -- that I got while attending the second largest flea market in France. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
