My specialty is French postcards and I must confess that I originally got this Spanish-stamp themed trading card to decorate a travel journal for my upcoming trip. However, once I saw all the gold leaf, I just couldn't glue and hole punch this piece of ephemera. The direct scans can't capture the glitz of this piece, but the angled photo gives you a glimpse of the glimmering gold. This trading card was published by Alph. Barbotte, 23, rue de Cherche-Midi of Paris, as an advertisement for a business in Orleans, France. The front design features a little matador with a letter to mail and we see six samples of Spanish stamps with an 1880 cancellation! This Victorian trading card measures 4.75 by 3.5 inches. Wear on white border but overall, especially considering its age, this trading card is in very good antique condition.
