Published by PC of Paris, this unused French postcard depicts Jesus carrying his cross. Note the hand-detailing in this image: the gold accents of his halo, the blood drops falling from the crown of thorns, the yellow-gold folds in his gown. No postal franking but based on other PC of Paris cards I've seen, I'd date this one to after WWI, likely 1920s-'30s.
Because of the reflective nature of metallic paints, getting accurate color on the scanner is tricky. Plus, this image already has lots of yellow in it. But hopefully, between the scans and the photos you'll get a clear idea of the beauty and craft in this reverent scene.
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
