This real photo postcard is a bit enigmatic. Blank verso, here are my assumptions: an Edwardian man in a suit stands next to a young blonde-haired boy in a sailor outfit. I think the man is a dwarf, but perhaps he simply squatted down to be closer to the boy and/or to avoid the hanging produce? They are in the center of a greenhouse, standing among long English cucumbers. Salad, anyone?! The little boy, with his unruly blonde hair, looks like the Dutch boy who put his finger in the dike. He stands in stark contrast to the gentleman so finely dressed in suit and cravat. The only facts I know about this card is that it came to me from France and I love the mystery of it all. I hope you do, too.
Size: about 5.5 by 3.5 inches. Note that the crease verso is superficial, barely feelable on front. I'm not sure that the photos and scans do justice to the rich sepia tone. You'll love it in hand!
