Marked VBC Serie No. 3201, this postcard is one in a series featuring this fantasy butterfly girl. Grandmother sent this to Solange in Paris with the promise that she would be sending more. The franking isn't clear but looks to be 1908.
This is a real photo postcard that has been color tinted by hand. A wonderful montage with the girl wrapped in a pink tulle. A butterfly has landed on her shoulder while she holds a huge rose in her hands. She is surrounded by more flowers at her feet. One of the things I like about this card is that the background is a deep chocolate brown instead of a harsh jet black as is so often the case in this studio produced collage cards.
If the red postage stamp bothers you, it can be rubbed off gently with a wet rag.
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Glossy surface shows typical wear, but overall for its age, this card is in very good antique condition. A hint of a crease at the bottom right quadrant.
