There's nothing like a hand-made gift, and this one with painted pink roses is exceptional. On August 27, 1907, Gabrielle sent this postcard to Monsieur Perrot in Paris. Since the artist's signature is "G.D.," we might assume that Gabrielle was herself the artist. At the turn of the century at the height of postcard mania, many artists used this medium for their canvas.
I have to confess that it took me some time to figure out the design and message. I kept wondering why the metallic gold square had a corner missing. That, plus the strange wording of the French text in the center (Literally, a heart friend sends you it), and I finally came to the conclusion that the message is "A friend sends you a piece of her heart."
Size: about 5.5 by 3.5 inches. For its age, in overall fine antique condition, especially considering the light creamy off-white background.
