Can you imagine an angel like this one knocking on your door Christmas day to sing a carol? This heart-tugging montage features the real photo of a girl combined with a faux studio background to create a wintery village scene. Pink and white wings painted on by hand transform the girl into a heavenly messenger. Extra thick white paint adorns her sleeves and neckline of her gown. Light brown highlights have also been brushed on the card.
The Joyeux Noel greeting is French but if my research is correct, the printer's logo is that of the Oesterreichische Photographische Gesellschaft in Vienna, Austria.
This card is unused and in overall mint condition. There is slight silvering on the left edge (as the photos show) but virtually no surface wear. Pre-WWI.
Please note: the direct scans are more accurate on the warm, rich colors of the card; the photos are taken by natural daylight and make the card look much lighter than it is (but photos are good for showing up details, condition, etc., in the card).
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
