Hand-dated 1906 at the bottom, this postcard is one in a popular series produced by the Reutlinger studio in Paris.
It is a collage mixing a real photo of an actress (Madame Galifrey) with an illustrated butterfly. Since this was all created by hand more than a century ago, way before Photoshop and other high tech photo editing programs, one can't help but appreciate the tedious manual labor that went into producing a postcard like this!
While this postcard series is not hard to find, what is rare is to find one in this good of condition. Like any glossy photo card, it does show some surface wear visible when held at an angle, but overall, especially considering its age, it is in near mint condition!
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
