This is an illustrated postcard mailed in Germany on Aug. 31, 1901. The brunette's outfit matches the blue in her eyes and while she is dazzling in her own right, what makes this card a standout is the fact that it has been decorated with glass beads. Her hat with the pile of blue and cream ribbons, her cream-colored collar and the light blue lapels of her coat have all been covered with beads! In the intervening 113 years, some of the beads have fallen off and some have left scratches. Fortunately, most of the wear can only be seen through a jeweler's loupe (or in a photo close-up). With the naked eye, there is a scratch visible on the left side of her hair and there is one white speck below her left eyebrow. Overall, she's a beauty in blue and has aged most gracefully. Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
