This is not a postcard per se, but a hand-painted card that is postcard size, about 5.5 by 3.5 inches. The paper is thinner than typical postcard card stock and almost has a crisp onion paper feel. What I love about this card is the naturally antique looking background. I can't tell if that's foxing, stains or was painted that way. But it's shabby chic at its finest. Verso, you see all the signatures from 'all the family wishing you a good and happy fete.' We don't know who the artist was but the verse in calligraphy is stunning withe the additional metallic gold paint accents. "On this festival day receive all our wishes Joy, Health, Hope Everything that makes you happy." Although not dated, I feel confident in saying this is circa World War I or earlier. Bottom two corners tips show wear and one crease to the left of the bottom yellow flower (more feelable than seeable).
