In 1905 Jean (French for John) sent this postcard to Georges, "a student of letters" at Mont Gerval. The message on the back, from what I can gleam, is fairly lighthearted about going to a football game. But the front illustration appears to be more weightier matters, albeit quite humorous from the man's facial expression, as he reconsiders fatherhood and what he's gotten himself into. One toddler on the chamber pot is being teased by another while a baby sleeps peacefully in a cradle in the background. Jean has penned names next to the two toddlers, noting that it's his friend and card recipient Georges who is sitting on the potty. The expression on the father's face is priceless!
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Rounded corners but overall, considering this card is 111 years old, it's in excellent antique condition and as funny as ever.
