This French postcard is franked 1902. It is embossed with a lot of gold overlay accenting the four-leaf clovers and the background encircling the woman in the exotic headdress. The center medallion is very much in the style of Alphones Mucha. The swirling gold frame dotted with four-leaf clovers continues the Art Nouveau flourishes. The scan of the card is flat and dull because a scanner cannot handle the 'gold' reflection. The photos a different angles more accurately capture the beauty of this card. With the undivided back reserved exclusively for the recipient's address, any message had to be written on front. And write the sender the did! But even the French scribbling cannot take away from the exotic lady in the center. Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. No creases. There is a stain on the woman's shoulder; I can't tell if it's inherent to the printing or not. Slightest signs of age, but considering she's 112 years old, she's held up quite beautifully.
