I'm sorry to say that I can't find any biographical information about Heinrich Hans Schlimarski (1859-1913) beside the fact that he was Austrian. However, his name does come up on art sites and Christie's sold a painting of his called "The Connoisseur" for about $2500 in 2008. What I know about him is that he designed art for several operas! This gorgeous postcard of the half-nude Venus with Cupid at her side is one of his rarer ones. Size: 3.5 by 5.5 inches. No creases. Almost no surface wear. The only signs of age (this card is circa 1910 or earlier) are around the edges and corners. Note the centaur in the background and the line of music at the top. Great design! On the back is a publisher's mark, initials inside a four leaf clover.
