This is a superb antique postcard featuring a Stebbing photo of French stage star Mlle. Boissy in the role of a bride. From the ringlet of roses in her hair to the beaded choker around her neck, Boissy is a beauty! This card has a matte finish. Excellent color tinting done by hand gives the veil blue tones and her hair a hint of strawberry blonde color. Note the detailing with the gold leaf on the necklace! Martha sent this card to her friend Augustine in 1905. She had to write her note around the front border edges because the card, actually printed pre-1903, allowed only the address to go on the back. I don't think Marthe's little note distracts from the bride, nor does the creased left corner. For its age, this card is in overall excellent antique condition. No surface wear. Absolutely stunning! Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches
