I think today we would call this a greeting card because it has 4 sides and opens, but on the back it is officially marked "carte postale." Mailed in 1911, it is an April 1 card honoring that uniquely French tradition of a day when secret admirers could use fish as messengers of love. The inside gold leaf message says "Search in your heart for the name of the sender." Mailed to two women, Mademoiselles C and G Pelissier in Toulouse, I believe the secret admirer is either boldly indecisive or his love is of a platonic nature:) Unopened, the card is typical antique French postcard size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Slight foxing, but overall, in fine vintage condition!
