This is the belle actress Madame Gabrielle Robinne looking rather forlorn in this uranotype (oranotype) photo by Reutlinger. I'm not real scientific-minded but you can google Uranotype and learn all about the uranium used to make these kinds of photos (don't worry about any radioactive fallout:). The main thing I understand is that instead of the typical black and white picture, the chemicals combined to give lush browns and reds. This card is dated 1906 and a most sweet message on the back. Philippe said she had received a number of deliveries that morning, including 5 postcards from her brother who was coming from Tunisia to visit her Sunday evening! She adds a "P.S." to say "Next week I'll have more time to make small poems or design cards or drawings." Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Glossy finish. A white speck on her hand. Oh my, any other signs of age seem insulting to mention:)
